Start where the learner is. Every class and lesson below is taught at the studio on Old Town Front Street.

  1. Family Music for Babies

    Birth to 18 months

    A class for you and your baby together, taught by Susan Miyamoto. Register through City of Temecula Community Services.

  2. Music for Toddlers

    18 months to 2.11 years

    Singing, moving and simple rhythm instruments with Susan. Parent involvement is required. Register through the City.

  3. Music for Little Mozarts

    4 to 5.6 years

    A piano class for four- and five-year-olds, using the award winning Music for Little Mozarts series.

  4. Beginning Guitar

    Group class

    A group class for new guitar players. Call to ask when the next one starts.

  5. Private lessons

    Age 4 through adult

    One-to-one lessons in piano, violin, flute, guitar & ukulele, and voice. Theory, technique, ear training and sight-reading, with Certificate of Merit, festivals, regular recitals and competitions for students who want them.

  6. Lessons for adults

    Any age

    Many adults return to piano after years away, and adult students are a delight to work with. Luann Carman also teaches piano for singers: a chordal approach for those who would like to accompany themselves while singing.

    piano & early childhood music

    Bachelor of Music in piano performance. Over 40 years as a private piano teacher, 7 as a Yamaha music teacher in Los Angeles. Licensed Musikgarten teacher.

    Studio days: Monday to Saturday. Ages 4 through adult.

  2. Luann Carman

    piano

    Professional pianist since 1978 with two degrees in piano performance. Taught at CSU Fullerton and California Lutheran College; author of two piano books.

    Studio days: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday. Ages 4 to adult.

  3. Tahnia Sandra Kay Lund

    piano

    Teaching piano full-time for over 35 years, with traditional reading methods and the Suzuki Piano Method. Two major studio recitals a year.

    Studio days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday. Ages three to adult.

  4. Paul Ciolek

    violin

    Over 25 years as a freelance violinist. One of his students won first place in the Temecula Valley Symphony Solo Competition.

    Studio days: Monday to Saturday. All ages and levels.

  5. Yu-Chen

    piano & flute

    Over 25 years as a performer and teacher; Master’s in Music Performance from Boston University. Prepares students for exams, competitions and AP Music Theory.

    Studio days: Monday, Tuesday. Ages 5 to adult.

  6. Josh Jurkosky

    guitar

    Raised in the Temecula Valley; Bachelor’s and Master’s from the USC Thornton School of Music. Adjunct professor of guitar at Mt. San Jacinto College.

    All ages and skill levels. Call for studio days.

  7. Connie Venti

    piano & voice

    BA in Music Education (piano emphasis), MA in Vocal Pedagogy, and over 40 years of experience.

    Studio day: Saturday. Any age or level.

Miyamoto Music Studio has an excellent reputation for providing high quality music instruction to students of all ages in the Temecula Valley for over 30 years.

The studio is home to independent music teachers who are passionate about teaching and performing music. These teachers are active in the community and are some of the most highly regarded, educated and experienced music teachers in the area. Many belong to professional organizations like the Music Teachers' Association of California (MTAC) and the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA).

About the studio

Susan Miyamoto has been teaching music in Temecula since moving here in 1989. In 2000 she opened Miyamoto Music Studio, first in the Southcreek Mall, to offer a variety of educational opportunities for teachers and students and to further the Arts in the Temecula area.

Many teachers also perform regularly with groups such as the Temecula Valley Symphony and the Southwest Women's Chorus. Susan has performed at the Old Town Temecula Theater and Classics at the Merc.

Teachers belong to MTAC (Temecula Valley and Riverside branches), MTNA, CAPMT and TVMTA, whose programs and recitals give students goals to work toward.

Studio policies

Studio Safety Policy: Students may be dropped off, but should be picked up promptly after their lesson, unless special arrangements have been made with their teacher. It is not the responsibility of the studio to supervise children outside of their lesson time.

Susan's lessons are payable monthly at the beginning of each month.

Early childhood music

The studio has offered early childhood music classes through the City of Temecula's Community Services for many years, taught by Susan Miyamoto, a licensed Musikgarten teacher.

Questions

What age can my child start lessons?

Susan Miyamoto teaches all levels starting from age 4 through adult, and Luann Carman teaches ages 4 to adult. For younger children, the studio has offered early childhood music classes through the City of Temecula’s Community Services for many years. Call (951) 506-2470 to find the right class or teacher.

Do you teach adults?

Yes. Private lessons run from age 4 through adult. Luann Carman’s piano students range from age 4 to adult, Yu-Chen teaches piano and flute from age 5 to adult, and Connie Venti teaches piano and voice. Call (951) 506-2470 and Susan will suggest the teacher whose days and style fit you.

Which instruments do you teach?

Private lessons are offered in piano, violin, flute, guitar and ukulele, and voice. Group classes include Early Childhood Music Classes through the City of Temecula and Beginning Guitar. How are lessons paid?
